523548-2: accelerator pedal CAN communication fault

A CPCD35-KUJ5Y4G3 displayed fault code 523548-2. After checking the pedal supply and fuse, the accelerator pedal was replaced. The fault disappeared and normal operation was restored.

Model CPCD35-KUJ5Y4G3Fault code 523548-2
01

Symptoms

  • The instrument displayed fault code 523548-2. The service record describes this as a CAN communication fault between the ECU and accelerator pedal.
  • Recorded diagnostic readings: pedal position 0%; sensor 1 and sensor 2 voltages both 0.00V.
02

Checks performed

  • The 12V supply to the accelerator pedal was normal.
  • The 7.5A accelerator fuse was normal.
  • The instrument could display the fault code, and the photo shows a check mark beside CAN. This alone does not rule out a fault in the pedal CAN branch.
03

Cause and repair

  • The service record identified the accelerator pedal as faulty. The pedal was replaced.
  • The fault disappeared and normal vehicle operation was restored. No analysis of the pedal’s internal failure was recorded.
04

Outcome and lessons

  • The repair outcome supports the pedal diagnosis in this case. For the same code on another vehicle, also check the power supply, connectors and CAN wiring.
  • The record contains no measured CAN resistance or post-repair pedal position and sensor voltage readings. The reference workflow should not be read as a record of checks all performed on this vehicle.

Troubleshooting workflow

Adapted from the original flowchart for similar faults. Not every step is documented as completed in this case. Follow the service information for the specific model and test procedure.

  1. Confirm the fault

Check the model, fault code and pedal-related diagnostic readings.

  2. Check supply and fuse

If the supply is abnormal, inspect the 7.5A fuse, supply wiring and connectors; repair and recheck. If normal, continue with communication checks.

  3. Inspect CAN wiring

If CAN ERROR is displayed, inspect CAN connections, particularly the ECU connector. No CAN ERROR indication does not exclude a fault in the pedal branch.

  4. Check CAN resistance and connections

The original flowchart gives 60Ω as a reference and mentions a CAN resistor outside the ECU. Verify under the model-specific test conditions. No measured value is recorded for this case.

  5. Confirm the pedal diagnosis

Consider supply, wiring and diagnostic data together. Meeting the resistance reference alone does not prove that the pedal is faulty.

  6. Verify after repair

Recheck fault codes, pedal input and vehicle response. In this case, the record confirms that replacing the pedal cleared the fault and restored normal operation.
